Then the LORD God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper as his partner." So out of the ground the LORD God formed every animal of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called every creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all cattle, and to the birds of the air, and to every animal of the field; but for the man there was not found a helper as his partner.

So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then he took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said,

"This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; this one shall be called woman, for out of Man this one was taken."

Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked, and were not ashamed.

后来，主上帝说∶“人要生活，这不好，我要为他创造一个帮手作为他的搭档。”于是主上帝创造出各种各样的飞禽走兽，并把它们带到那人面前，让他命名；他怎么称呼它们，它们就怎么命了名。这个人给所有的牲畜、飞鸟，和野兽都取了名；但是他没能在其中找到帮手作为自己的搭档。

于是，主上帝让这个人沉沉睡去，他也就沉睡了。上帝从这个人身上取下来一根肋骨，并用肉把伤口合起来。那根从男人身上所取下的肋骨，上帝用来造就了一个女人，然后上帝把她带到那人面前。那人说∶

“这可是我的骨的骨，肉中肉；

她应被叫做“女人”，因为她出自于“男人”。

因此，男人要离开自己的父母，跟他的妻子结合，二人融为一体。

那人跟他的妻子都光着身体，然而他们并不害羞。
