5. But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not die; for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made loincloths for themselves.

    可是那蛇却对女人说：“你们不一定会死的，因为神知道，你们要是吃了那果子，眼睛就会明亮了，你们便会和神一样，知道善与恶。”于是，那女人见那棵树的果子好作食物，也悦人的眼目，且像她所渴望的一样，能使人有智慧，她便摘下果子来吃了；又给同她在一起的丈夫一些，他也吃了。然后他们二人的眼睛都亮了，才知道自己是赤身露体的，便将无花果树的叶子编在一起，为他们自己编作缠腰之裙。
