To become an excellent flight attendant, what personal quality and ability do you think a candidate should possess? What do you have among these?

你覺得要成為一位優秀的空服員，需要具備什麼樣的特質及能力? 你又具備含概了那些？

Rebecca:Well, it’s obvious that flight attendant should be confident, friendly, responsible, and organized. It’s also important to have good communication skills, and sense of humour…I feel that I have a bit of everything, but my best part is about having great patience…cause I used to work with children. I earned some pocket money by tutoring young kids’ homework when I was in the university.

Sam:　That’s right, Rebecca. Those qualities sound quite suitable to become a flight attendant. But I just have a little opinion about the word “excellent” in this question…

(Interviewer Sussie walks past this group, and Sam asks for confirmation.)

Sam:     Excuse me, Sussie. We were wondering …in our question…it stresses an “excellent” flight attendant, is that right?

Sussie:  Yes, we are looking for “excellent” candidates to become our crew.

Sam:      (Looks at Sussie...) Thank you for clarifying. I appreciate. (Now looks back at his team members…) Umm…I was saying an “excellent” flight attendant will need…apart from what Rebecca mentioned…dedication to details because the job responsibilities include various things to be taken care of, such as safety, first aid, and customer service. I also think that…adaptability and cross-cultural understanding make excellent cabin crew …because…in this job… we will have to adjust to all sorts of schedules, destinations, colleagues, passengers, etc…Though I’m not experienced in either customer service or airline industry, I do have lots of “passion” to be a flight attendant and very strong “ambition” to become an “excellent” one with Emirates…

        Rebecca說: 嗯，這很明顯的就是空乘員應該要自信、親切、負責、而且有條理，還有很重要的就是要有好的溝通技巧及幽默感...我想我都有一些，不過我最大的優點是我很有耐心...因為我以前常接觸小孩子。我大學的時候，靠當家教賺取生活零用錢。

Sam說：Rebecca說得對。那些特質聽起來蠻合適做空乘員的。只是在這個問題中，我對於”優秀”這個字有點意見...

（主考官Sussie剛剛經過這一組，Sam向她確認了一下。）

Sam說：Sussie，請問...這題目...我們想...它強調了”優秀”空乘員，是這樣嗎？

Sussie說：沒錯，我們在尋找”優秀”的應徵者加入我們的行列。

Sam說：（看著主考官Sussie...）謝謝妳澄清，我很感激。（Sam現在回頭看他的組員...）嗯...我剛說到”優秀”空乘員將需要...除了Rebecca所提到的之外...注意小細節，因為空乘員的工作職責包含了許多，例如機上安全、醫護急救、及客戶服務。還有，我認為適應力及跨文化之間的認知能夠造就優秀的空乘員...因為...在這個工作上...我們將需要適應各種的班表、航點、同事、乘客等等...雖然我沒有客服及航空工作的經驗，我很渴望成為空乘員，並且有很大的野心要成為阿聯酋的優秀空乘員...

              

【面試技巧Tips】        

不論求學或就業，這一題經常出現在面試中。要深入瞭解工作職務，做精闢詳細的回答，讓主考官感受到你的態度:在乎這個面試，並且有萬全的準備。

       

Rebecca的回答不夠完整，她只說出confident, friendly, responsible, organized, good communication skills, and sense of humour這些特質的名稱，並沒有加以解釋。（應該仿照她舉例說出自己為何有great patience，然後再延伸解釋為何空乘員需要耐心。）

Sam優點:(1)適時地向主考官確認題目，表示他有(a)pay attention to details, (b)seek for clarification, 及(c)good communication skills的空乘員特質。(2)展現team spirit,順著Rebecca講的，再層層疊疊的補充意見。(3)舉例說明自己提出的意見，更有說服力。”適時”表現出積極有禮的態度，卻不咄咄逼人。
