--ROUND ONE--
So after the introduction and the questions were answered we all lined up in 2 lines to register and get a number, they collected our cv's and photo and quickly looked over your cv and the way you were dressed. Thats all they based their decision on the first cut. So we waited in the room for about 5-10 minutes and they came back and said to go to the table and pick up the piece of paper with your number on it to see if you were successful or not to the next stage.
----ROUND 2---
This first stage wiped out about half of the crowd. I was among the ones who make it to the next round. So after that we all went back into the room and there was sets of chairs in a circle, each one had 5 or 6 chairs. Then we had to have a group discussion we had to ask the person on our right what was the most embarrassing or most challenging thing that happened in your life so far. While we were doing this exercise they asked us one by one to come and do the reach test and have another look at our resume and asked a few questions. After they had everyone come up we had to stand up and tell our group about the person next to us what was their most challenging or embarrassing moment so far. The recruiters were watching us the whole time taking notes on how we presented ourselves and how we were dressed as well. Then as a group we had to come up with three things and agree or disagree on can money buy happiness. Then one person from each group had to speak. The group I was in the girl forgot what to say so I got up and spoke. Again they were evaluating us. Then we sat there for about 5 minutes or so while they made the next cut. They posted papers on the table with your number and you either got accepted or not accepted to the next round. I made it So now we were down to about 25 people or so out of 60ish.
-----ROUND 3---
This was a time where if English was not your first language that you had to take a written exam which included an essay. I was exempt for this as English is my first language. I think everyone passed but 2 people. So I had a nice long break to go eat lunch. When I came back from lunch one of the recruiters was smoking a cigarette while everyone was finishing their essays so I got the chance to chat with her for about 10 minutes. I think I scored a few extra points there
-----ROUND 4---
So now we all go back into the room and there are 2 sets of 12 chairs or so and we sit down according to their liking. We had 15 minutes to come up with a movie that we wanted to create and pick the actors and we had an unlimited amount of money to spend. So we created a movie that included cabin crew of course I think here they really don't care soooo much about the answers just how you interact with each other as they were watching like hawks. Then we waited for 10 minutes until they again gave us a piece of paper with our number to see if we would make it to the final interview. I had be lucky again:) Then we were down to 13 people. So we got to have another break. They give you lots of 10-20 minute breaks so don't worry. So the final 13 go back into the room to start filling out some paper work and they were in Dublin for the next 2 days so we got to pick our time and date welllll they were going through the paper work we turned in and at this time it was now 6pm and we were already there for 9 hours!!! such a long day. There was this girl that was only 20 and they told her sorry that you need to come back when you turn 21. Maybe she though she could sneak by that I don't know but I felt bad for her but she should have looked at all the requirements. So we were about to take so sort of evaluation test with 189 questions I believe and we had one hour to complete it. At this point there were 2 girls who raised their hands and said we have to be to work at 7pm and were 45 minutes away, so the recruiter said you have to take this today or else you can come back and start the process over at another open day. If you can believe this they both LEFT!!! I guess they didn't want it bad enough. I mean if it were me I would call my work and make up some story and come in late. So we were down to 10 people out of 120 or so my gosh. So we finished the test and since 3 people had left they put all our final 2-1 interviews to the next day. So in total we all were there 10 hours. So be prepared for this as some were not.
------ROUND 5----
So the next day I arrived early and I noticed the girl before me was out in the hall taking another test and she was talking for maybe 2 minutes to me just giving me some info on questions, but obviously they ask questions according to you so everyones will be different. Anyways the recruiter told her to go move to a table to take the test so that was it. Then she called me in for my interview and gathered all my paper work etc. They want work references (2) to be exact, color copy of your passport and school diplomas if you have graduated and pictures, but since they were there for another day they recommended a place to get our pictures and we could leave them at the front desk for them to pick up. Well I called the place and they wouldn't be able to do it in time, So i finally found a place after about 6 times for 180 euros. Very expensive . the pictures included my business attire full body and my passport photos with a sky blue background which they want 26 of them .Then they wanted 2 casual full bodys and 2 casual passport sized photos. So luckly I got them handed in the next day at a hefty cost. Ok so back to my final interview. After they took my paper work she started asking me questions. Just so you know I have previous customer service experience working at the airport and I was an ex flight attendant so they based their questions off of that. I don't remember the questions exactly but they were something like when have you had a difficult customer, what was the situation how did you handle it and how was the out come. Something like that. So in total I had 5 questions and my interview lasted about 15 minutes which I was very surprised and I didn't have to take the test like the girl before me. So I was confused on that. So I felt good as I answered the questions very well and she said I had no more questions for you so hope that was a good sign. Has anyone else had a fast interview and gotten accepted. Also she said I would hear from them in 4-6 weeks but maybe sooner since I was willing to leave anytime so she said my application would go ahead of the others. So that was my experience with my open day in Dublin, Ireland with Emirates. They are an AMAZING company and I can't stop thinking about it and getting to live in Dubai. Just hope my dream comes true. I want to be with the best and they are going to be growing like crazy. She said at open open day in Australia they had over 2,000 people. I can't imagine how crazy that must have been for them. Anyways best of luck to all you who are interested. Now it's my turn to wait for the "GOLDEN CALL" I though I could handle it ok but it's only been 5 days and I'm going crazy.
OHHH one more thing I forgot to add is that I bought this booked called "How to be Emirates Cabin Crew" it really helped me prepare and it had alot of interview questions to work off of and talked about the company and Dubai. DON'T FORGET TO SMILE THE WHOLE DAY!!!! :) |
