Incident: China Eastern B738 at Wuhan on Jun 22nd 2011, bird strike
A China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration B-5475 ("Enshi") performing flight MU-2451 from Wuhan to Beijing (China) with 166 passengers, was in the initial climb out of Wuhan when the left hand engine (CFM56) ingested a bird causing the engine to vibrate. The crew levelled off, burned off fuel and returned to Wuhan for a safe landing about 70 minutes after departure.
The airline confirmed a bird strike caused serious deformations to a number of fan blades, blood and feathers were found on those blades.
A replacement aircraft reached Beijing with a delay of 3:20 hours.
